Bellevue College fall performing arts schedule will feature a ‘Thriller’ dance workshop, student plays and the drama Fuente Ovejuna.

Live Theatre Week Comes to Bellevue College on Oct. 16 as part of an all-access pass to the region’s performing arts featuring over 30 special events and 50 free performances. For more information, visit http://seattleperforms.com/ltw.

At BC a free “Thriller” Dance Workshop with Redmond-based dance instructor Teresa Osborn will be given at 7 p.m. for ages 8 and up only. At 8 p.m. favorite theater scenes and songs will be performed by the professional actors of Second Story Repertory Theatre and Bellevue College drama students at Carlson Theatre at Bellevue College. Fuente Ovejuna, a drama by Lope de Vega, will come to the Stop Gay Theatre at the college at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 12-14, 18, 19, 21.

Based on an actual incident in a 15th-century Spanish village, Fuente Ovejuna tells the story of an abused woman who challenges the men of her village to rise up against the overlord who is cruelly mistreating the citizens. It was written by Spain’s foremost playwright, Lope De Vega, and first published in 1619.

A festival of 10-minute plays written, directed and performed by Bellevue College drama students will be presented at the Stop Gap Theatre at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 5 and 6.

Students direct, write, design and perform dramas and comedies that take the audience from beginning to end in 10 minutes.

Tickets are $5, at the door.
