A guided walk today will take people through Bellevue, from Lake Sammamish to Lake Washington, along Bellevue’s scenic Lake to Lake Greenway Trail. The annual Lake-to-Lake Walk, starting at 8 a.m. on Saturday at Weowna Park, is hosted by Bellevue’s Parks & Community Services and the American Volkssport Association / Northwest Striders.

The Lake-to-Lake Walk traverses pristine open-space parks, forests, wetlands, botanical gardens, historic buildings, farms and neighborhoods. Parks along the trail include the Phantom Lake Loop, the Lake Hills Greenbelt, Kelsey Creek Park, Wilburton Hill Park and the Mercer Slough Nature Park.

The trail is a little more than nine miles long and takes about four hours to walk. Participants must register at the Mercer Slough Blueberry Farm, 2380 Bellevue Way S.E., from 8 to 10 a.m., this morning. There is no fee for participating, although Volkssport members seeking walking mileage pay $3.

Parking, identified by Volkssport signs, will be available at various locations along the west side of the Mercer Slough Nature Park off Bellevue Way Southeast. Participants will be shuttled from the Mercer Slough Blueberry Farm to Weowna Park. The shuttle will run from 8 to 10 a.m.

Participants will receive a trail map and written walking directions; volunteer staff will be available along the way at designated checkpoints. The walk will end back at the blueberry farm.
