The musical Bye Bye Birdie will come to Youth Theatre Northwest from March 5 through 21.
The case of 30 students, ages 6 to 18 who have trained in a conservatory program for the entire year, are from Bellevue, Mercer Island, Issaquah and Seattle.
The story involves super star Conrad Birdie being drafted into the army and a scheme to keep this hip swinging, popular rock n’ roll singer in the hearts and minds of America’s teenagers by having a small-town girl chosen to appear with the teen idol on the Ed Sullivan Show, where she will receive a symbolic goodbye kiss.
The girl’s boyfriend is not pleased with Kim’s instant stardom. Bye Bye Birdie is best appreciated by audiences six and up.
Tickets are $17 for adults and $15 for youth/seniors for the March 5 opening night gala (which includes an intermission dessert). All other performances are $15 for adults and $13 for youth/seniors.
