Children throughout the Puget Sound can experience the world of ballet and live performance when Evergreen City Ballet presents its third annual family performance series featuring “Fancy Nancy”, “Dancing to Disney” along with excerpts of “Sleeping Beauty.” Last year’s performances sold out.
Performances will be at 10 a.m., 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. on both Saturday, Feb. 18 and Sunday, Feb. 19 at the Theatre at Meydenbauer Center, 11100 NE Sixth St., Bellevue.
“Fancy Nancy” illustrator Robin Preiss Glasser will be at the six performances to autograph books and meet and greet families.
The ballet is based on the popular book “Fancy Nancy: Bonjour Butterfly,” by author Jane O’Connor and is choreographed by Mary LeGere, artistic director of the Raleigh (NC) Dance Theatre.
Also on the program is “Dancing to Disney,” a ballet choreographed by Wade Walthall former artistic director of ECB, consisting of well recognized Disney songs such as “Give a Little Whistle,” “Bibbity Bobbity Boo,” “Heigh-Ho” and many more.
And for all the little girls that dream of being a ballerina, the performance will include variations from “The Sleeping Beauty,” complete with tutus and pointe work.
“Our first two seasons of family programs have been such a wonderful success,” said ECB Artistic Director, Kevin Kaiser. “Last season was our first visit to the Meydenbauer Theatre in Bellevue. We sold out all four performances. This year we’ve added two more shows in Bellevue and Renton along with expanding our performances to Auburn so everyone can experience this wonderful program for children and parents alike.”
Renton performances will be at the ECB Black Box Theatre, 2230 Lind Avenue SW, Renton, at 10 a.m., 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. Saturday, March 3 and Sunday, March 4.
Auburn performances will be at the Auburn Performing Arts Center, 700 E Main Street, at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. Saturday March 24.
