Images of Egypt on display at Omega Photo

The “collision” of the ancient and modern world in Egypt is the subject of a photo exhibit by Robb Mitchell now on display through March 31 at Omega Photo in Bellevue.

Mitchell will be available Saturday, March 7, from 2-4 p.m. at Omega Photo to answer questions about his work.

An award winning photojournalist for the newspaper in Memphis, Tenn., Mitchell visited his hometown’s namesake, Memphis, Egypt and more. From the deserts of Sinai to Alexandria to Cairo and up and down the Nile River, he focused on the people and the places of both modern and ancient Egypt.

He captures the juxtaposition of donkey-pulled carts being overtaken by mini-vans and vacation-clad tourists walking with traditionally-dressed Egyptians.

Mitchell lives in Sammamish. His collection of photos can be seen at www.robbmitchellphotos.com.

Omega is open from 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., Mon.- Fri., 10
