Overlake Service League to present ‘wine at its best’

The Le Vin À Son Apogée (Wine at its Best) annual event will take place at the Fremont Studios in Seattle

For wine lovers everywhere, the Overlake Service League will once again present the “Around the World in 80 Wines” benefit event on November 14.

The Le Vin À Son Apogée (Wine at its Best) annual event will take place at the Fremont Studios in Seattle and will include a lineup of international and highly rated wines, including a 2005 Joseph Phelps Insignia – Meritage (rated 95). The evening also will include Around Washington featuring wines that represent the 11 viticultural regions in the state of Washington.

A special VIP party will feature a “Meet the Winemaker” with Bob and Cathy Betz of Betz Family Winery. VIP guests will have a chance to taste a 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Père de Famille, served from magnums (Seattle Times Wine Critic Paul Gregutt’s Number One Washington Wine for 2008) and other wines from Betz. The VIP party is limited to 100 people.

Shayn Bjornholm, education director, Washington Wine Commission and former Wine Director for the Canlis Restaurant, will pour the wines. Brian Tracey, former host of “Evening Magazine,” will emcee the evening.
