The Performing Arts Festival of the Eastside will hold its 28th annual event the week of April 22-26. The festival will feature nearly 400 pianists, violinists, violists, cellists, woodwind performers and vocalists competing in more than 430 judged competitions. At stake is more than $3,000 in scholarship awards to be distributed amongst the best performers.

Performers range in age from elementary school to adult.

Up to a dozen finalists from the seventh through 12th grades will perform in the concerto competition for scholarship awards and the opportunity to perform in the Concerto Play Off Concert, 7 p.m. on April 25 at Saint Andrew’s Lutheran Church. Judges are Dr. Will Simpson, music director and conductor at Saint Andrew’s; Marjorie Kransberg-Talvi, a violinist with Rainier Symphony and affiliate of several regional music departments and music camps; and Alexei Girsh, conductor of the Eastlake Symphony.

The first place and scholarship winners from each competition class will perform in four free Eastside Artist Concerts May 3-4 at the church, each followed by a public reception for the performers and guest artists.
