“See It and Believe It!,” an exhibit of “photographic paintings” by Ken Turner and multi-media works by Juliana Wisdom and Alexander Hayden, opens Wednesday, Feb. 9 at Bellevue College’s Gallery Space.

A public reception for the artists will be held from 4-8 p.m. that day in the gallery, which is located in room 271 in Building D, off the south courtyard of Bellevue College’s main.

The reception and the continuing show, which runs through March 18, are free of charge.

Turner, whose theme for his portion of the exhibit is “The Parade Marches On,” has built a library of tens of thousands of digital photographs over the years, most of it street photography.

Turner uses these images much like paint, to build up compositions and create relationships and narratives among the photographic elements.

Turner’s featured image, “The Parade Marches On,” combines views of a clown at successive moments in a parade.

Wisdom and Hayden, who have named their portion of the exhibit “Stuck at the Kids’ Table,” use glass, found objects, salvaged materials, digital video and audio, and other elements to reveal contrasts between adulthood and childhood, verbal and nonverbal communication, and solemnity and playfulness.

Their featured work is a self-portrait whose elements include dress-up clothing, special lighting, old instruments and various sweet or curious found objects displayed on a large dining table.
