On Saturday, April 20, Silver Platters in Bellevue will celebrate Record Store Day with a variety of special releases and giveaways.

Founded in 2007 by Eric Levin, Michael Kurtz, Carrie Colliton, Amy Dorfman, Don Van Cleave and Brian Poehner to celebrate the culture of independent record stores around the United States, Record Store Day is now celebrated globally.

Record Store Day celebrations generally include special appearances, performances and meet and greets with fans; the holding of art exhibits, and the issuing of special vinyl and CD releases along with other promotional products to mark the occasion.

In addition to opening an hour early, the Silver Platters in Bellevue will offer 10 percent off all regularly priced vinyl (new and used) from 2 p.m. to close. The store will also have, in stock, hundreds of special releases – from artists including At The Drive-In, The Black Keys, Group Love, Phoenix, Pink Floyd, Paul McCartney and more. All releases pegged to Record Store Day will be issued in limited release.

According to the Silver Platters Facebook page, they’ve ordered anything they could get their hands on from the official Record Store Day 2013 list. For a full listing on releases go to www.RecordStoreDay.com/SpecialReleases.

While there will be no live performances at the Bellevue location, Silver Platters’ Queen Anne location will host sets by The West, The Mowgli’s and Family of the Year, as well as a Fin Records showcase.

Silver Platters’ Eastside location is in Crossroad Mall, at 15600 NE 8th St, Bellevue. Hours for Saturday, April 20 will be 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.
