The Seattle Chamber Music Society will hold its 2009 Summer Festival July 6 to August 14. The festival features six weeks of chamber music, including 17 different main series concerts and 17 different pre-concert recitals. Additionally, there will be two family concerts and an emerging artist concert.
The 28th season of Summer Festival at Lakeside School takes place July 6–31, 2009 at Lakeside School, 14050 1st Ave. N.E. in north Seattle and the fifth Summer Festival at The Overlake School takes place August 5–14, 2009 at The Overlake School, 20301 N.E. 108th St. in Redmond.
Each of the main series concerts feature 10-14 artists from the festival roster in works for different configurations of chamber ensembles who rehearse and perform together only for these concerts.
The roster of artists during the six weeks of the festivals features 34 internationally acclaimed artists. They include principals of the New York Philharmonic, Cleveland Orchestra, and Detroit, National, San Diego, and Seattle Symphonies, and the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra; top prizewinners of the Naumburg, Tchaikovsky, and Queen Elisabeth International Competitions, the Avery Fisher Career Grant, and the Grammy Awards; and soloists with the Chicago, Philadelphia, Boston, and National Symphonies and the Vienna, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Moscow, and Berlin Philharmonics.
