Gunnar Nordstrom Gallery in Bellevue will showcase painter Mike Smith’s new artwork titled “Spring Forward” beginning through March 8.
Smith began drawing and sculpting at the age of two and dedicated his life to painting at age 25. His bright watercolor paintings depict images of his everyday life, from his pet dogs to the ducks in his pond. He also sculpts in bronze, paints in oils and does silk screen prints.
He draws on the inspiration of everyday life, finding his subjects in his own backyard or around the neighborhood in which he lives. “Spring Forward” embodies a collection of garden inspired paintings, showcasing Smith’s love of flowers and mythical horses.
The Puget Sound native resides in Camas and graduated from the University of Portland with a degree in English Literature.
