Wine + food means a fun party for all

Washington Wines Festival 20th Annual Wine Weekend was a FUN party for all. I attended the Magnum Tasting and Winemaker dinner at Waterfront Seafood Grill along with the Vinolution 14 party at the SAMA Olympic Sculpture Park on Friday evening.

There was wine tasting on the sunny outside deck with a variety of Washington Wineries that included DeLille Cellars, Hedges Family Estates, Chateau Ste. Michelle and Long Shadows Vintners. Attendees next were treated to a memorable five-course dinner with each entrée partnered with the perfect wine.

Course One was Seared Atlantic Scallop, served with a 2009 Buty Semillion Sauvignon Muscadelle; Course Two was called a Yellow Plate Special (beets, corn, peppers, squash, tomato and saffron) combined with a 2010 Chinook Rosé; Course Three was a Roasted Duck Breast with a 2009 Betz Syrah La Serene; Course Four was a perfectly prepared Grilled Beef Tenderloin (my favorite) with a 2008 Quilceda Creek Galitzine Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon.

For dessert we enjoyed Chocolate soufflé, ganache, and gelato.

The Vinolution 14 party was a new element to this year’s fundraiser that introduced a younger patron to WWF. Guests danced to LA’s hottest DJ, Machete, and enjoyed wine tasting from a select group of Washington wineries that included some of these new invitees: BOOMTOWN, Gramercy Cellars; Sleight of Hand; Waters Winery and Whidbey Island Winery. Proceeds from this great weekend event will benefit Camp Korey and Washington Wine Education Foundation.

Seattle Art Museum Supporters (SAMS) annual Gardens of ART event recently took place in Hunts Point. This annual fundraiser for SAM began with a glass of champagne at the home of Sally and John Nordstrom, while guests toured their lovely rose and vegetable gardens. Then guests were taken to the stunning two-acre home of Lisa and Andre Radandt, which is located at the at the very tip of Hunts Point on the shores of Lake Washington.

More than 200 guests enjoyed lunch and viewed art sculptures created by national sculpture artists Deborah Butterfield, Julie Speidel and Sabah Al-Dhaher.

SAMS was founded 25 years ago by Sally Nordstrom who called her girlfriends and said “Let’s help SAM.” This group of volunteers raises funds for the museum through events like Gardens of Art and the much anticipated annual Nordstrom Designer Preview Fashion Show debuting this Thursday evening at Pier 91. seattleartmuseum.org/ndp
