Seattle Humane Society veterinarians on May 16 celebrated their 300th free Pit Bull spay/neuter surgery this year.
Seattle Humane and PetSmart Charities have joined forces to provide free spay and neuter surgeries to Pit Bulls and Pit Bull mixes in King County. The dogs receive free vaccinations, and microchips are available for $5.
Pit Bull mixes make up approximately 30 percent of lost, stray and abandoned animals in area shelters. The spay/neuter program is due to a $50,000 grant from PetSmart Charities.
People who have an unaltered pit bull, or know someone who does, can call the Seattle Humane Society at 425-649-7560 to make an appointment.
