Preliminary results for the Aug. 2 primary are in, and Mercer Islander residents and incumbents Tana Senn and Judy Clibborn, both Democrats, and Republican Steve Litzow are leading in their respective races in the 41st district.
For the state senate seat, Litzow has a narrow lead of 48.63 percent on fellow Islander and Democrat Lisa Wellman, who earned 47.63 percent of the vote. Bryan Simonson trails with 3.58 percent.
Litzow has 169 more votes than Wellman as of the initial tally at 8:15 p.m. Tuesday.
Senn is leading challenger John Pass 63.22 percent to 36.66 percent, and Clibborn earned 53.92 percent of the vote to Michael Appleby’s 34.86 percent, William Popp’s 9.14 percent and Angel Jordan’s 1.99 percent for state representative Pos. 1 and Pos. 2, respectively.
Results will be updated most weekdays by 4:30 p.m. until certification on Aug. 16. For more election results, click here.
