Over 500 rowers and paddlers raised $60,000 in the fight against breast cancer recently the 10th annual Row for the Cure regatta. The regatta benefits the Puget Sound Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure and helped kick-off Breast Cancer Awareness Month in the Emerald City.
A total of 19 rowing clubs in Washington state and Colorado, along with members of the USA Paralympics Rowing Team and Native American canoe paddlers, participated.
The regatta was one of the 21 Row for the Cure events in 15 U.S. states and Germany benefiting local affiliates of Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Seventy-five percent of the money raised stays in the community for education and treatment of breast cancer, while the remaining 25 percent supports national breast cancer research projects.
