“Panhandlers” showed up at the May 23 meeting of the Bellevue Breakfast Rotary Club, but it was all for a good cause. The “panhandlers,” actually a couple of the BBRC members, collected everyone’s pocket change to support the Polio Plus Project, the international Rotary effort to eliminate polio worldwide.
The club collected 79.5 pounds of change for a total donation to Polio Plus of $915.
At the Crossroads Spray Play Park on Monday, June 1, some small children were taking advantage of the sun and water to do a little “streaking.” They quickly got the attention of their mothers.
What’s with the bicycles at the Bellevue Arts Museum? Well, June is “Bike to BAM month” – cyclists receive $2 off admission. The museum partnered with Gregg’s Cycles, which is sponsoring the event.
Get ready to yell FORE again at the Golf Club at Newcastle. The rehabilitation work at the public golf course, Coal Creek, is substantially completed. Work included improving the greens, tees, fairways and bunkers. In addition to substantial aeration, drainage and natural area projects, a total of nine greens on Coal Creek were resurfaced with the Poa Annua sod, which is conducive to the wet, cooler weather found in the Northwest.
