Arts museum sets arts/antiques appraisal day

Fine arts and antiques appraisers from international auctioneers Bonhams & Butterfields will conduct appraisals onsite at Bellevue Arts Museum on March 5 as a fundraising event for the institution.

People can bring as many as five objects – from paintings and prints to decorative arts and silver (and photographs of larger items) for inspections and an at-auction value.

Appraisals will take place from noon to 6 p.m.

The museum is located at 510 Bellevue Way N.E.

Cost is $25 for first item/$15 per each additional item with a limit of five items. Museum members receive a $5 discount on the first item.

The event is expected to be lively – possibly including “finds” – discoveries of rarities and previously-unknown notable objects by important makers.

Gary Espinosa, V.P. and head of the Bonhams & Butterfields Appraisals Department said, “Finding a hidden treasure, which is wonderful, is not the only reason people attend our appraisal events. It’s a rare opportunity for anyone to sit face-to-face with world-class experts who can tell them what they have and how valuable it is in today’s market. It’s also a nice way for the museum to raise some funds.”
