Macaw Rescue & Sanctuary will hold its third annual “It’s for the Birds” Benefit BBQ & Auction on Aug. 24 in Carnation. The event will include catered food, beer and wine provided while both live and silent auction items are available to bid.

The sanctuary is a non-profit organization that provides permanent care and housing for over 500 birds that have been abused, abandoned, or whose owners find they can no longer care for them.

Gates open at 1 p.m. and the auction begins at 2:30. A barbecue will be available for $20 per person in advance or $25 the day of the event. Cost for children age 10 and under is $10.
