Three people were taken to Overlake Hospital on Friday night after a pair of bank robbers crashed into two cars during while attempting to flee.

Just before 6 p.m., Bellevue Police responded to a reported robbery at the Banner Bank in the 12400 block of Bel-Red Rd. where a male suspect presented a note demanding cash and left the scene with an undisclosed amount of money.

Police caught up with the suspect and his accomplice when his vehicle was recognized in connection with another bank robbery only minutes earlier in Kirkland.

The suspect’s car was disabled after crashing into the second vehicle on the N.E. 10th St. on-ramp to SR-520 and the two men were taken into custody without further incident.

The injuries to the suspects as well as the citizen who was in one of the vehicles that was struck were all non-life threatening and both suspects will be booked into King County jail upon release.

Bellevue Police are still investigating the connection to the Kirkland bank robbery but believe the men apprehended were responsible for both.
