Bellevue event to discuss misconceptions about Islam

The Muslim Association of Puget Sound (MAPS) will host an event on common misconceptions about Islam on March 6 at the Newport Way Library in Bellevue.

Admission to the 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. event is free and open to the public. It will feature multimedia presentations, focused short talks, and opportunities for open dialogue. Attendees will also have an opportunity to observe an Islamic prayer at 12:30 p.m.

“Attendees will have a wonderful opportunity to have a heart to heart talk with Muslims, and to inquire about issues that are commonly misrepresented in the media about Islam such as freedom of religion and democracy in Islam, and women rights,” according to Ghada Ellithy, medial coordinator for MAPS, a mosque in Redmond.

Newport Way Library is located at 14250 SE Newport Way.
