Bellevue is in line to get $35 million to improve transportation. The money is part of $440 million in federal funds that will be allocated by the Puget Sound Regional Council.

Bellevue would get $1.1 million for Stage 2 of the 120th Avenue Northeast projects, $450,000 for the Factoria Boulevard Overlay from Southeast 36th Street to Southeast 41st Place, and $33.5 million for Sound Transit’s East Link Light Rail expansion.

“These projects were selected on their merits and support the region’s economic development and growth,” said Bellevue Councilmember Claudia Balducci, chair of PSRC’s Transportation Policy Board.

Congress approved the funds earlier this year as part of a focus on growing and sustaining jobs, Balducci said.

“These projects, large and small, will put people to work and shore up the foundations of our economy for the future.”

PSRC is encouraging public comments on the projects proposed for funding and also on the region’s draft Transportation Improvement Program for 2013-2016. The public comment period runs through Oct. 25

The vote by PSRC’s Executive Board to approve the 2013-2016 Transportation Improvement Program is scheduled for October 25.
