Parks and Police Department officials from the City of Bellevue recently met with Kindering staff to discuss ways to help ensure safety for them and the children with special needs they serve.

Kindering is a nonprofit neurodevelopmental center for children ages birth to three, with special needs.

“We are concerned for the safety of the children and families who participate in our program,” said Kathy Fortner, director of operations at Kindering. “The police, especially the officers of the bike patrol and Crossroads precinct, were extremely helpful by providing safety ideas, options to improve security and crime prevention tips.”

Fortner also noted that the Parks Department responded quickly to improve the parking lot safety and visibility in the area.

The thanks came in the form of an email to city officials.
