The Bellevue Police Department collected 180 lbs. of controlled, non-controlled, and over the counter medications Nov. 29. The event was a partnership with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) as part of the nationwide prescription drug “Take-Back” initiative.
In April, 290 lbs. were collected and last year, 398 lbs.
“It looks like the campaign is working. Citizens are cleaning out their medicine cabinets,” said Public Information Officer Carla Iafrate. “I get phone calls throughout the year asking when the next take back drug day will occur.”
