The Bellevue Police Department is putting itself under the microscope this week with the arrival of assessors from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc.
CALEA assessors arrived Monday, Dec. 2, to examine the BPD’s operations, policies and management for reaccreditation, which is a voluntary action taken by the department in order to obtain recognition for its quality standards and procedures.
A public information session will be held 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3, at City Hall where attendees may offer comments. The session will be held in Room 1E-111. Telephone comments may also be made 2-4 p.m. Tuesday by calling 425-452-2566. All comments are limited to five minutes.
The Bellevue Police Department was first accredited by CALEA in 2004, receiving flagship department status in 2010. Accreditation renewal occurs every three years.
