Bellevue police announced Monday the sixth anniversary of the day a 2-year-old Bellevue boy went missing.
Julia Biryukova reported her son Sky Metalwala on Nov. 6, 2011. She told police she left Sky in her vehicle on her way to get gas after it ran in Bellevue.
However, a police investigation revealed inaccuracies in her statement, including the fact that her car was not out of gas and had no mechanical problems, Bellevue police officials reported.
Biryukova spoke with investigators on the day she reported Sky missing, however, she has since refused to participate in the police investigation, police added. Sky’s father, Solomon Metalwala, has been an active supporter of the effort to locate Sky.
Bellevue police continue to seek leads in the case. To date, investigators with the FBI, Bellevue Police Department, and Redmond Police Department have pursued over 2,500 tips, spent over 14,000 hours and more than $2 million in this lengthy investigation.
Yet, Sky remains missing.
Police officials say they remain hopeful this case will be solved. In May 2017, an age progressed photo showing what Sky would look like as a 7-year-old boy was released.
If anyone has any information regarding this case, they are urged to contact the Bellevue Police Department by contacting Investigations Captain John McCracken by calling 425-452-7658 or email JMcCracken@bellevuewa.gov.
