UPDATE Bellevue crews have cleaned up the majority of roads closed over the weekend. Only 97th Avenue Southeast, south of Southeast 11th Street remains blocked due to a mudslide over the weekend.
Heavy rains caused flooding and road closures in Bellevue over the weekend. The city received 2.5 to 3 inches of rain from noon Saturday to early Sunday morning and received an additional 1 to 1.5 inches through the weekend.
As of noon Sunday, the following roads were closed due to water over the roadway:
NE 21st just east of 140th Ave. NE
SE Seventh off of Lake Hills Connector
148th Ave. SE between Main and SE 8th
People are advised to check storm drain grates near their homes and remove leaves and debris to help prevent flooding. Avoid driving through standing water over roads, even if it doesn’t look deep. Never drive around barricades or closed road signs.

• Call 911 for life-threatening emergencies.
• Call Utilities at 425-452-7840 to report flooding, hazardous roads, water main breaks and sewer overflows.
• To report gas leaks, power outages, and down power lines, call Puget Sound Energy at 1-888-225-5773.
• Test your sump pump to make sure it’s working.
• Do not block water flow by dumping trash or yard debris into streams, wetlands or drainage ditches.
• Learn how to shut off your electricity, gas and water at main switches and valves. You may need to shut off these utilities if your home floods. If you need help locating your main water shut off valve, call Bellevue Utilities at 425-452-7840.
• Do not attempt to drive through standing water. Even a small amount of water can stall your car. If your car stalls in rapidly rising waters, abandon it immediately and climb to higher ground.
• Stay away from fallen power lines and electrical wires. Assume any downed power line is an energized power line.
If your property floods
• When reentering your home, use a flashlight. Do not use candles in case of a gas leak.
• Turn off power at the circuit breaker for areas that have flooded. If the circuit breaker is wet, contact Puget Sound Energy at 1-888-225-5773.
• Check for structural damage and beware of gas leaks, electric shorts and live wires.
• Call your insurance agent for information on flood claims.
