The Bellevue-based Jewish Day School of Metropolitan Seattle will be featured in the Real Estate & Construction Review – 2009 Northwest Edition for the school’s new two-phase gymnasium project.

The gymnasium was nominated as a “Building of America” project and will be highlighted in a case study intertwining the words of the project’s owner/developer, consultants, architects and contractors to explain how teams worked together.

The Athletic Center, designed by Carlson Architects and constructed by Howard S. Wright Construction, is a multi-use, energy efficient facility and cornerstone of the JDS campus. The building incorporates architectural references from Israel in its flat roofline, the masonry and small windows, which keep the building naturally cool. State of the art energy modeling software was used to develop a natural ventilation.

High levels of insulation were used and the gym has natural lighting from skylights that illuminate the gym during most of the day.

The school is located at 15749 Northeast Fourth Street in Bellevue.
