Sammamish High School Teacher Wins State Art Educator of the Year Award
Sammamish High School Art Teacher Lisa Crubaugh has been named the 2011 Art Educator of the Year by the Washington Art Education Association (WAEA). Crubaugh was nominated by her peers for the award, which recognizes outstanding professionalism, service, promotion and support of the visual arts by art teachers in Washington.
This year, Crubaugh is sharing her expertise with students in her ceramics, art and design, photography, and drawing and painting courses. She spearheaded an ambitious project to display seven years of student artwork in an online student art gallery. In addition to showcasing student talent, Crubaugh says the gallery is also a resource for other art teachers in Bellevue and across the nation. Ardmore Elementary architect receives National recognition for facility design
NAC|Architecture, the company that contracted Ardmore Elementary School, has received the Grand Award for outstanding educational facility design in the 20th Anniversary Fall 2011 Edition of Learning By Design, the premier biannual guide that showcases innovative school and university design and construction projects.
Three Bellevue Schools named ‘schools of distinction’
Three Bellevue schools, Enatai Elementary, Spiritridge Elementary and Interlake High School, have been recognized for outstanding improvement in student achievement with a 2011 “School of Distinction” Award. This is presented by The Center for Educational Effectiveness (CEE), the Association of Educational Service Districts (AESD) and several partner organizations across Washington State.
“This award reflects the extraordinary dedication and hard work of our teachers, students and their families, as well as their commitment to learning and success,” said schools supt. Amalia Cudeiro. The winners will be recognized at an upcoming award ceremony hosted by the Puget Sound Educational Service District.
