Lake Washington Technical College (LWTC) student Susan Dailey, of Bellevue, has been named to the 2008 All Washington Academic Team. The annual All Washington Academic Team, in its 13th year, honors the top students from the state’s 34 community and technical colleges.
Dailey is a student in LWTC’s Social and Human Services program. She is an active community volunteer, helped develop the now annual LWTC Martin Luther King Jr. Day volunteer service fair and is the past president of the LWTC Phi Theta Kappa chapter. Her career goal is to be a director of a nonprofit agency that serves seniors.
The All Washington Academic Team recognizes student academic achievement and service to the community. The team is sponsored by Phi Theta Kappa, the international honor society for two-year colleges, and the American Association of Community Colleges. All the members of the 2008 team were honored at a recent awards ceremony in Olympia that featured former Gov. Gary Locke as the keynote speaker.
Each member of the 2008 All Washington Academic Team receives a $750 scholarship provided by the Northwest Education Loan Association (NELA) and KeyBank. In addition, each of the team members will be offered scholarships from all of the state’s public and private four-year colleges.
