Bellevue to host open house Tuesday for major transportation projects

Residents will have an opportunity to learn about and offer input on major transportation projects in Bellevue at an open house on Tuesday at City Hall.

Residents will have an opportunity to learn about and offer input on major transportation projects in Bellevue at an open house on Tuesday at City Hall.

The Mobility and Infrastructure Initiative Open House, 4:30-7 p.m. in the concourse, will cover a dozen of the city’s most significant transportation projects and planning efforts. People can learn about the projects and comment on the design work done so far.

Together, the proposed investments are designed to help meet mobility and growth challenges in Bellevue for decades to come.

On hand to listen and answer questions will be planners, project managers and transit officials. Among the projects and topics to be covered are:

* Wilburton Connections: Northeast Fourth Street Extension, 116th to 120th Avenue Northeast; 120th Avenue Northeast (Stage 1), Northeast Third to Seventh streets; Northeast Fifth Street Neighborhood Traffic Plan; Northeast Sixth Street Extension, I-405 to 120th Avenue Northeast; Greenway Design Concepts near Bellevue Botanical Garden; and information on initiative funding options.

* Bel-Red area improvements: Northeast 15th/16th Street, 116th to 124th Avenue Northeast; 120th Avenue Northeast (Stages 2 and 3), Northeast Eighth Street to Northup Way; how future streets in Bel-Red area will look and function (street standards); planning for new parks and open space; Bel-Red art district; and storm water improvements.

* East Link light rail: City planning efforts regarding two future light rail stations slated for the Bel-Red area; and Sound Transit staff available to discuss East Link planning in the Bel-Red Corridor.
