Bellevue residents are expected to join thousands of others in communities across the country Tuesday, Aug. 7 for the 29th annual national drug and crime prevention campaign, “National Night Out.”
Activities will begin at noon at Bellevue Crossroads Farmers Market (in front of the old Circuit City) located on the eastside of Crossroads Mall, continuing 6:30 p.m.
The purpose of the Night Out event is to raise awareness about crime and drug prevention, generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime efforts, and send a message to criminals letting them know neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
Residents in neighborhoods throughout the nation are asked to lock their doors, turn on their outside lights and spend the evening with neighbors and police at National Night Out. Citizens are encouraged to start planning their own block parties and open houses.
The Bellevue event is open to all ages and will feature prize giveaways, demonstrations by various public safety departments on ways to stay safe, entertainment and food.
