The Bellevue Youth Court, where juvenile offenders are sentenced by a judge and jury of their peers, will host an open house at City Hall in the Council Chambers on Tuesday, Oct. 28, giving the public a chance to meet the youth volunteers and mentors serving the court.
There will be an informal gathering from 5:30-6:30 p.m., followed by a brief presentation from 6:30 to 7 p.m. In addition, all visitors are welcome to stay to observe an actual court session from 7 to 8 p.m.
Light Refreshments will be served. For more information and to RSVP, e-mail hstephens@bellevuewa.gov or greal@bellevuewa.gov or call 425-452-2846.
Bellevue Youth Court was launched in January as a three-year pilot project, with high school students trained by professionals to perform court duties. King County Superior Court judges and staff provide assistance and will be on hand on Tuesday.
