The red carpet was rolled out at Lincoln Square Cinemas for a silent auction and private screening of the 81st Annual Academy Awards Sunday evening, co-presented by the Imagine Guild of Children’s Hospital and Lincoln Square Cinemas. The benefit event brought the glamour of Hollywood and the Kodak Theater to Bellevue.
Lincoln Square Cinemas was transformed into a VIP reception with gold and black balloons, exclusive auction items and free-flowing wine. Prior to start of the Oscars, guests enjoyed hors d’oeuvres provided by The Parlor Billards and Spirits and participated in a trivia questionnaire about the history of the Academy Awards.
“This is just one of our annual events the Imagine Guild puts on and we have attracted quite a following of loyal supporters for Children’s,” said Wendy Funicello of the Imagine Guild. “This event grows every year through word of mouth. It’s a chance to join together, have fun and give back to a good cause.”
Children’s Hospital CEO Dr. Thomas Hansen and his wife, Cheryl, were in attendance along with dozens of guests dressed red-carpet ready. Prizes were awarded for best dressed and a raffle drawing took place throughout the evening.
“Children’s Hospital is honored to have so many great volunteers willing to donate their time and energy in support of Northwest families who may otherwise not be able to afford treatment,” said Dr. Hansen.
Beyond the “Walk the Red Carpet for Seattle Children’s” event, the Imagine Guild hosts the annual Children’s Ride Gala and Auction in June.
The Imagine Guild, a motorcycle-driven community in support of Children’s Hospital, has raised more than $4 million for uncompensated care. Over the past 14 years, the guild has grown from a few individuals to more than 70 men and women of all ages who share a love of motorcycles and a passion for helping children.
Due to the guild’s extensive volunteer network, more than 80 percent of the gross revenue is donated to Children’s to support uncompensated care, diabetes research, and hydrocephalus research.
