Incredible credibility: The suspect called Overlake Hospital and stated “I’m going to blow your place up”. She made similar threats to Evergreen Hospital’s satellite clinic in Redmond. Overlake security advised this is the fifth such threat made by the suspect in the last four years. The staff does not find the threat credible and simply wished the incident be documented. The suspect was arrested by Redmond Police because they did find the threat to their clinic to be credible.
Jack-in-the-box: An officer observed the suspect inside a donation bin on 140th Avenue Northeast attempting to steal items while an accomplice waited in the car. As the officer approached, he saw the stock of an assault rifle on the pull down shelf of the bin. After calling for backup, both suspects were detained and the rifle turned out to be an airsoft gun that the suspect had taken out of the bin.
November 17
Park problems: Redmond Police were dealing with an armed suicidal subject at Grasslawn Park. They requested Bellevue Police assist by providing access to the SWAT armored vehicle. Fortunately, the subject was peacefully taken into custody before the Bellevue officers arrived at the park with the vehicle.
November 19
Stocking up: The complainant works at 7-11 and noticed a large shortage of lottery tickets and cigarettes. Upon reviewing store video, he found that on November 10th, while the store clerk was stocking shelves, four subjects came into the store. Two subjects blocked the view to the counter and distracted the clerk while two others went behind the counter and stole lottery tickets. This went on for 16 minutes. $1,400 in lottery tickets and $800 in cigarettes were stolen.
Preschool scare: The victim parked her vehicle in the parking lot of the KinderCare on West Lake Sammamish Parkway to drop off one of her children into the school. She left her 7-year-old in the vehicle to wait. A man smashed a window and took a bag from inside the vehicle while the child was in the car. The suspect was described as a dark skinned male wearing a Seahawks knit cap.
Maimed by a gun malfunction: The victim was shooting at Wade’s when his gun malfunctioned. While trying to clear the malfunction, the victim shot himself in the hand. It was a grazing wound so nobody caught the accidental shooting until he reported it at Overlake Hospital during treatment.
Shooting the breeze: The suspect spent over an hour inside the 7-11 preparing a large purchase before he asked the clerk if the clerk would “shoot him?” The suspect fled the store with $6.35 worth of merchandise. An officer located the suspect walking in Factoria. The suspect was emotional and highly dissatisfied with the police. He was arrested for the theft and made numerous threats to the responding officers.
November 22
A ‘Rocky’ trip to the ER: An officer responded to Overlake Hospital for a disturbance. The subject was upset that he was discharged too soon and believed the staff did not treat his medical condition. He took a “boxing stance” and took a swing at an ER nurse, then fought with security. He was arrested for assault.
‘Cuffed at the car wash: An officer stopped a vehicle at the Brown Bear car wash and discovered the registered owner had a misdemeanor warrant for DUI out of Seattle. The driver was arrested. The car remains dirty.
