Boys and Girls Clubs of Bellevue gets grants for baseball program

The Cal Ripken Sr. Foundation has partnered with the city of Bellevue to provide the Badges for Baseball program to 100 youth at the Boys and Girls Clubs of Bellevue.

The Cal Ripken Sr. Foundation has partnered with the city of Bellevue to provide the Badges for Baseball program to 100 youth at the Boys and Girls Clubs of Bellevue.

Badges for Baseball provides youth opportunities to learn life lessons from law enforcement professionals serving as coaches and mentors while participating in baseball and softball themed activities. The Boys and Girls Clubs of Bellevue will receive $10,000 in grant funding and resources to implement the program throughout 2010.

The Badges for Baseball program targets areas with high rates of juvenile crime and delinquency.

Throughout 2010, the Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation and the Bellevue Police Department will partner to provide:

$10,000 in cash grants to community-based youth organizations

$3,000 in baseball/softball and Quickball equipment

Healthy Choices, Healthy Children curriculum and on-going staff training

Ripken Way baseball/softball clinics

Opportunities for youth to travel to Maryland for CRSF Overnight Summer Camp
