A fire occurred on March 13 at 10710 NE 10th. Flames were visible from the third floor of the structure.
The building was under construction, and the fire was put out with extinguishers by workers on the site.
The fire started in a closet with a furnace in it, according to Bellevue Fire Department spokesman Lt. Eric Keenan.
Painters apparently used plastic to mask off the area, and it caused a buildup of heat in the closet, Keenan said.
The only thing that burned was some of the plastic and some of the ductwork above the furnace.
A fire sprinkler in the room activated, but it was not operational and only discharged residual water.
Firefighters arrived on the scene and spent time helping get smoke out of the rooms. They also investigated the cause of the fire.
