(The Reporter wrote a full story in the June 21 issue). Watson was first diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma in 2005 and has since journeyed on a long road of hospital stays, treatments, and tests.

When Watson initially heard about the Race for the Cure in May, he set a goal of having the largest friends and family group to march in the walk. Through his e-mails and encouragement, 80 people joined his team appropriately named the Watson Warrior’s. An additional 40 people made donations in his name, including relatives from across the country.

By the end of June, Watson became the fifth highest fundraiser out of more than 20,000 participants. Although currently undergoing treatment, he continues to stay active with 1.5 mile walks in Weowna Park and through it all he remains a true testament of strong will.
