Card reader vandal on the loose

Bellevue Police are trying to identify a man who they say vandalized card readers at Lincoln Square in downtown Bellevue.

Bellevue Police are trying to identify a man who they say vandalized card readers at Lincoln Square in downtown Bellevue.

The damage to the two card readers could cost up to $20,000 to repair.

Police believe the man was having difficulty finding his way down to the parking garage and began kicking the card readers in the building.

“We caught him on surveillance and as you watch the guy, he just flew off the handle. He obviously wasn’t thinking,” said Bellevue Police Detective Greg Bean. “The card readers are used by employees and garage staff on a daily basis so this is a huge inconvenience to them, not to mention the cost in damage.”

Surveillance video captured the on tape and Police are working to identify him.

If you recognize the man, you are asked to contact Detective Bean at 425-452-7820 or gbean@bellevuewa.gov.
