Sheriff Sue Rahr has opened the Cedar River to recreation use.
“The flow of the Cedar River has diminished considerably, and although still very cold, the public is free to use the river again,” Rahr said.
Both the Cedar River and the Green River were closed on May 17 because snow melt-off from uncharacteristically hot weather made the rivers fast, high and very cold.
The Green River remains closed. The bodies of two people using the river on May 17 were discovered last week. One was a very experienced kayaker, age 45, and the other was a man floating with friends on two inflatable rafts tied together. He was 34 years old and not wearing a life jacket.
