A 23-year-old Woodinville man was arrested by Redmond police Thursday, one day after he allegedly robbed a convenience store on BelRed Road in Bellevue. Bellevue police announced the arrest Friday.

On July 8, a man entered the 7-Eleven on 15521 BelRed Road and demanded cash and cigarettes from the clerk at knifepoint.

Another employee used his cellphone to take photos of the robber, which were shared with surrounding police agencies.

An off-duty Redmond police officer spotted a man who resembled the suspect in the photos in a Redmond grocery story the next morning and arrested him on an active Department of Corrections warrant without incident. Subsequent investigation by the Bellevue Police Department linked the man to the robbery in their jurisdiction.

Bellevue police officer and spokesman Seth Tyler called the 7-Eleven employee a “quick thinking citizen.”

The suspect is being held in King County Jail and charging documents are scheduled to be submitted later in the day.
