Church to install new pastor

The Rev. Kirby Unti, Bishop of the Northwest Washington Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America will preside over the installation of Rev. J. David Thomas as lead pastor at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church in a ceremony at 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11.

 

The Rev. Kirby Unti, Bishop of the Northwest Washington Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America will preside over the installation of Rev. J. David Thomas as lead pastor at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church in a ceremony at 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11. Thomas takes the helm at Cross of Christ as the church celebrates its 50th anniversary in Bellevue.

Following the installation, the church will hold its annual Oktoberfest.

Thomas comes to the Pacific Northwest from the Grand Canyon Synod of the ELCA in Phoenix, Ariz., where he has served three Lutheran congregations and as a special consultant to the Synod Bishop.

Thomas received his BA in Journalism from Arizona State University and his Master of Divinity-Theology from Fuller Theological Seminary.
