The Bellevue City Council on Monday approved $110,000 in funding for the arts following recommendations from the Arts Commission for support of 31 performances, events and activities.
The commission recommended funding through two programs: the Eastside Arts Partnerships, which supports arts organizations based in Bellevue; and Special Projects, which invites artists and organizations from anywhere to submit proposals.
The city put out a call earlier this year for projects in the Bel-Red area, were art installations are rare. Four proposals came in, and the commission recommended funding for three.
The Bel-Red area is slated for a transformation that will bring in mixed-use developments in the future.
The city will post additional information about arts funding on its web site at www.bellevuewa.gov/arts_program.htm.
