Volunteers needed to help with various city events and programs throughout the summer. Events and registration contact information include:

• Northwest Arts and Crafts Fair: July 25-27. Bellevue Botanical Garden Society is looking for additional volunteers to help staff the NW Arts and Craft Fair artists break area. Flexible shifts available. 425-451-3755 or mlilley@bellevuewa.gov.

• Volunteer Canoe Guides: Ongoing. Share your expertise in a beautiful, natural environment by providing canoe tours of the Mercer Slough Nature Park. 425-452-4195.

• Downtown Transit Center Community Police Station Volunteers: Ongoing. Volunteers answer phones, assist walk-in visitors, and help the station officer with special projects and community events. Volunteers work one four-hour shift each week. Must be 21 or older, have a customer-service background and be able to pass background checks. 425-452-6017.

• Specialized Recreation Programs: Ongoing. Volunteers needed to help out with specialized recreation programs at Highland Center. Help is needed in after school programs for children with developmental disabilities, as well as evening programs for adults with developmental disabilities. Classes include sports, cooking, dance, fitness, drama and cheerleading. 425-452-7686.

• Police car drivers wanted: Ongoing. Bellevue Police Department is seeking volunteers to shuttle vehicles to and from the city’s service facility. Hours: 6:30-8 a.m. weekdays. Volunteers must have good driving record, pass background check and annual driving assessment test. Call for details. 425-452-6017.

Angel Care Breast Cancer Foundation: Breast cancer survivors needed to provide support for others battling cancer. Hopelink: Volunteers are needed to deliver donated food to food bank, assist with adult literacy classes, provide childcare during classes and more. Overlake Hospital Medical Center’s Cancer Resource Center: Volunteers needed to greet resource center visitors, assist clients in using the center’s self-serve functions, answer phones and provide clerical support. Special Transportation Program: Group Health Cooperative needs volunteer drivers to transport frail, elderly members to and from medical appointments in King County. Volunteers use their personal cars, are reimbursed for mileage and determine their own schedules, including when, where and how often they will drive. Volunteer Chore Services: Volunteers needed in Bellevue to help with chores, shopping or driving once or twice a week for a homebound senior. Flexible schedule and mileage reimbursement.
