City seeking volunteers for several events

Volunteers are needed at a number of upcoming events in Bellevue.

Volunteers are needed for the city of Bellevue’s Earth Day Arbor Day Festival. The event, on April 18 from 8:30-11 a.m., will feature a wide variety of free family activities, a tree planting ceremony and volunteer restoration projects citywide.

Groups are welcome at the event.

Teen volunteers are needed for the 2009 sheep shearing event from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 25, at Kelsey Creek Farm.

All volunteers must be at least 14 and will need to dress to work outside with the public. All volunteers must pre-register at myparksandrecreation.com before April 22. Space is limited. Contact Pam Myers at 425.452.7688 or e-mail Kelsey Creek@bellevuewa.gov

Teens volunteers also are needed for week-long summer sessions at Kelsey Creek Farm. The experience offers a wide variety of opportunities for to assist the farm staff with daily operations, including helping with the animal chore routine, participating in special projects and learning responsible animal care.

Teens need to have a willingness to learn, a positive attitude, a tolerance for being outside and the ability to be on your feet for a physically active day. Participants must be capable of understanding and following directions. Teens are limited to one week per participant. Register through the www.Myparksandrecreation.com or call 425.452.6885.
