City set to release initial study on impacts of proposed waterfront park at Meydenbauer Bay

City of Bellevue to release initial study on impacts of proposed Meydenbauer Bay waterfront park June 4, followed by June 23 public hearing.

The city of Bellevue plans to issue a draft environmental-impact statement (DEIS) on June 4 related to its plans for building a new waterfront park along Meydenbauer Bay.

A public hearing will follow on June 23 at 6 p.m. at City Hall (450 110th Avenue Northeast)

Copies of the DEIS are available at the Service First desk at City Hall or by calling (425) 452-6800.

The document may also be downloaded online.

The DEIS for the Meydenbauer Bay Park and Land Use Plan analyzes three alternatives for the park and neighboring land uses – two “action alternatives” and one “no action alternative” – for the study area, which is generally bounded by 98th Place Northeast/Meydenbauer Beach Park on the west, Northeast First Street on the north, 101st Avenue Southeast on the east, and Meydenbauer Way Southeast and Meydenbauer Bay on the south.

The City owns approximately ten acres of property within this area.

Public input on the DEIS and the document itself will help the project steering committee develop a preferred alternative, anticipated this summer.

A Final EIS (FEIS) will be published prior to the City Council taking action on the proposal.

Public comments about the DEIS can also be submitted through July 20 via email at mpaine@bellevuewa.gov or in writing to Michael Paine, Environmental Planning Manager, City of Bellevue Development Services Department, PO Box 90012, Bellevue, WA 98009-9012.
