The city will begin work Monday to install new and improved pedestrian signals at 43 intersections along 148th Avenue Northeast and in the Bel-Red and Overlake areas of Bellevue.

Through two federal City Safety Program grants, the city will install pedestrian countdown signals and push buttons that comply with ADA standards. In 2015, the city plans to upgrade 29 of these intersection with adaptive traffic signals as part of its finalization of the six-year, $4.5 million Sydney Coordinated Adaptive Traffic System project.

Work on intersection pedestrian signals will occur 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday with minor traffic impacts, and should be completed by early 2015.
