The public will have several chances to view and comment on transportation projects coming down the pipeline at a series of open houses this month.
Before a transportation project goes to design and construction, it most likely was included in the Transportation Facilities Plan. The plan will be the primary subject of the open houses.
The plan is a 12-year transportation planning document of high-priority projects recommended by the Bellevue Transportation Commission and approved by the City Council. It’s the first step in getting a transportation project funded and built.
Bellevue’s most recent plan included the years 2009-2020. It’s now time to develop a 2013-2024 plan. City staff will be reviewing current project priorities and identifying ones.
The plan includes high-priority projects and improvements that address emerging needs and opportunities, such as the Eastgate/I-90 Land Use and Transportation Project, the Bel-Red Corridor Project, and the Pedestrian & Bicycle Transportation Plan Report.
The public can weigh in on what should be funded in the future. Those interested can respond to an online survey, beginning Feb. 20, or they can attend an open house, from 4:30-6:30 p.m., on one of the following dates:
• Wednesday, Feb. 15, at Highland Park & Community Center, 14224 Bel-Red Road
• Thursday, Feb. 16, at Factoria Mall, 4055 Factoria Boulevard SE
• Thursday, Feb. 23, at Bellevue City Hall, 450 110th Avenue NE, Rm.1E-108
• Tuesday, Feb. 28, at Crossroads Mall, 15600 NE 8th Street, Community Meeting Room
The prioritized list of projects developed for the plan will be used to update the city’s seven-year Capital Investment Program Plan, a process that will start by late spring. The new CIP budget is expected to be adopted by the end of the year.
