Columnist to speak at Susan G. Komen luncheon

Columnist, author and mother of two young girls Kelly Corrigan will be the keynote speaker when the Puget Sound Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure will host the 7th Annual Power of a Promise Luncheon at the Westin Bellevue on Thursday, October 29.

A breast cancer survivor herself, Corrigan was diagnosed at the same time her father was diagnosed with late stage cancer and will discuss the subject of battling and surviving the disease, all while watching a parent face the same struggles.

Corrigan also recently penned The Middle Place, a memoir that she defines as “that sliver of time when parenthood and childhood overlap.” At 36, she had a marriage, a couple of funny and active kids, a weekly newspaper column and all the while felt as though she remained comfortably wedged between her adult duties and her parents’ care.

The annual Power of a Promise is $150 per person. The Westin Bellevue is located at 601 Bellevue Way NE. Tickets can be purchased at www.komenpugetsound.org.

This event is part of the Puget Sound Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for a Cure’s Be the Cure Month, in celebration of October’s Breast Cancer Awareness month.
