The Bellevue City Council on Feb. 10 met in executive session to review “a robust pool of candidates” seeking to become the next city manager.

Brad Miyake has been serving in the position in the interim since Steve Sarkozy resigned as city manager last May. The council had planned to meet with finalists for the position in late November, but two candidates withdrew and another could not attend. With only two viable candidates left, the council decided to re-advertise for the position.

The city is not disclosing how many applications it received by the Jan. 24 deadline, but narrowed the pool on Feb. 10. Extensive background checks are now being conducted with a second round of reviews to take place in March. From that meeting a final list of candidates will be selected for on-site interviews tentatively set for April 3-5.
