The Metropolitan King County Council’s Environment and Transportation Committee Tuesday gave its unanimous support to the appointment of Bellevue businessman Jeff Pyatt to the newly created Parks Citizen Oversight Board. The committee sent Pyatt’s appointment to the full County Council for final consideration.

Pyatt is President of Pyatt Lending Company and an owner of Private Lenders Group, a private money fund. He is also a director of 911 ETC, Inc.

Pyatt is known in the Bellevue community as a civic activist, having served on the boards of three Boys and Girls Clubs and as past president of Park Hill Rotary of Seattle. Pyatt is also on the board of King County Sexual Assault Resource Center.

In 2007, King County voters approved two measures, Propositions 1 and 2. which provided property tax levy revenues for the operation, maintenance and purchase of King County’s rural and regional parks, open spaces and trails. Both measures called for the appointment of oversight panels to review the expenditure of levy proceeds and make policy recommendations to the executive and council. The board consists of nine voting members – each from one of the nine council districts. An additional member is appointed by the chair of the council.

“Jeff’s business and financial background will be a valuable resource for the Parks Citizen Oversight Board as they address the many challenges facing King County’s parks and recreational system in the next few years,” said councilmember Jane Hague, whose district includes part of Bellevue.

Pyatt’s appointment was sent out of the Environment and Transportation Committee and to the full County Council with a “do pass” recommendation.
